Holds a degree in Physics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1996) and a PhD in Physics from the Brazilian Center for Physical Research (2001). Is currently Researcher at the Brazilian Center for Physical Research. Has experience in the areas of Astronomy and Physics, with an emphasis on Cosmology, working mainly on the following subjects: gravitational lenses, galaxy clusters, dark energy and matter, quartessence, formation of large scale structures and processing of CCD images. Coordinates the SOAR Gravitational Arc Survey and the Brazilian participation in the CFHT Stripe 82 Sruvey and VISTA-CFHT Stripe 82 Survey. He has been a proponent of the Brazilian participation in the international collaboration Dark Energy Survey and builder of this project. He is a member of the Coherent Neutrino-Nucleus Interaction Experiment. He also has a strong presence in the area of propagation and popularization of science.
